In Florida all health care workers are required to undergo a level 1 or level 2 criminal background screening through AHCA. If you have a criminal history you will need to obtain an exception or clearance from AHCA. Depending on your criminal history you may be able to obtain a license or continue to practice. AHCA screening are required every five (5) years.
In Michigan there is no formal screening process; however, state law allows the relevant board to deny licensing or to revoke a license for criminal behavior. The facts surrounding the criminal conviction, the type of conviction, the length of time since completing your sentence, etc. are all relevant factors that may persuade the relevant board to grant you a license.
